About Us

We have been proudly serving the grocery needs of Oliver & the surrounding areas since 1957 when Ken Forbes & Ken Raincock opened Oliver SuperValu at the South end of Oliver’s Main Street. Then in 1964 John Louden bought out Ken Raincock and became Ken Forbes partner in ownership.

In 1960 Wally Brogan started his grocery career with SuperValu as a box boy in Vancouver and worked his way up over the next several years as Store Manager of the Victoria Dr. & Tsawwassen locations. Then in 1973 Wally decided to make the big move and purchased Oliver SuperValu from, Ken Forbes & John Louden. In 1981 Oliver SuperValu moved from the original location (the current Field’s store) to it’s current location in Oliver Place Mall and in 1997 an extensive store re-model was done, adding on an additional 8000 sq. feet to better serve the ever-growing needs of our community. Wally has been Owner/Operator of Oliver SuperValu since October 3rd 1973 with his wife Terri by his side since 1986..

Oliver SuperValu is constantly evolving, adding new products, services and store equipment. Over the last year we have installed new Frozen Food cases in order to expand our frozen food selection. As well as doing a major re-model of our Bakery & Deli Depts. to provide a full-service Deli counter & new Bakery display shelving in order to expand our selection in these departments. Our Imported Foods aisle & our New Pet Centre area have also expanded with a much greater variety for your shopping needs.
